In May 2019, an intimate group of members convened with special guest, The Honorable Julia Gillard, Former Prime Minister of Australia. We enjoyed a lively conversation over lunch, with Julia sharing with us about her time as Prime Minister and her new focus, as chair of the newly formed Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at Kings College in London. The Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at Kings College is a new institute that works toward a world in which being a woman is not a barrier to becoming a leader in any field, nor a fact that negatively influences how female leaders are judged. With her role as Chair of the Institute, Julia brings together research, practice and advocacy to better understand and address the causes of women’s underrepresentation in leadership positions across sectors and countries and the way gender negatively impacts the evaluation of women leaders.
